TOKYO Cheap Marlos Moreno Jersey , April 22 (Xinhua) -- Japan's Nikkei stock index closed 0. 85 percent lower Tuesday as the yen's rise and a lack of firm cues reversed early gains and sent investors to the sidelines ahead of Japan's earnings season later this week.
Local brokers said that Wall Street's rise overnight spurred some short-covering early on, but investors released positions in later trade amid a lack of firm incentives to chase issues higher and reversed the market's earlier gains amid a thin day of trading.
Yutaka Miura, a senior technical analyst at Mizuho Securities Co., said that trading clues were lacking in Japan and as a result the trading volume Tuesday hit the second lowest level this year.
Other strategists pointed to Japan's central bank staying pat on easing its monetary policy, despite the April 1 tax hike and a lofty inflation target, which senior economists feel the Bank of Japan will struggle to meet in its allotted timeframe Cheap Leroy Sane Jersey , as zapping the hope some investors had been counting on to take up fresh positions.
"Investors seem to be giving up hope that the BOJ will opt for more monetary easing at its upcoming April 30 meeting. However remote it might actually be, some had been using it as a trading factor," said Chibagin Asset Management general manager Yoshihiro Okumura.
Investors were largely in wait-and-see mode ahead of a Japan-U. S. summit scheduled to kick off tomorrow, brokers added, with eyes firmly trained on companies' earnings projections for this fiscal year.
